Monthly Program Survey – for board members
At the January 2026 NMAS board meeting, the directors approved investigating a monthly virtual program. The meeting minutes say:
One of Deb’s focusses for her year as president is to improve member benefits. Ellen noted the outstanding scientific expertise we have in the state – microplastics at UNM, ancient footprints in White Sands, cutting-edge research at our National Labs and AFRL. We have discussed periodic programs, but the state is too large for in-person meetings. Margaret agreed to set up a monthly virtual lecture series, but only with full support of the board. She does not want to be solely responsible for identifying speakers; she provided a sample form for speaker recruitment.
The board approved the proposal for monthly virtual lectures, with Hy committing to help coordinate and Suparna and Nabanita offering to secure speakers. They set a target date of March for launching the lecture series, with Tito agreeing to deliver the first presentation.
Each board member is asked to identify at least 2 colleagues or other contacts who might be willing to present at a monthly virtual speaker series. Please provide contact information only if you have already discussed this and they have agreed to be contacted as potential speakers.
The form below is the first step in investigating a monthly virtual program – do we have enough potential speakers? The deadline for submitting these contacts is April 3, so the board can evaluate continuing at the spring meeting in Socorro.
You can submit up to 4 contacts with this form.
Thank you!
